Pics from June 21-27, 2008 Mexico Mission Trip to Monterrey

Pics from Santa Monica, Mexico (suburb of Monterrey). This property will be the site of the biggest church building Rick Owens (the guy in charge of all of the building projects) has ever built in Mexico in 20-years. This is the property purchased by the Fort Gibson Church of Christ with the help of several other individuals and congregations. This building will seat over 300 people. This area of Monterrey is growing very fast and will soon be surrounded by housing. In addition, a tunnel will go through the mountain in a few years. This will draw even more people from Monterrey to this area.

Group shot at the end of the week.
Wide shot of group moving concrete blocks to the other end of the property (40 meters) to begin laying block for a wall that will go around the property. Glen Elliott (missions deacon) writing initials for Fort Gibson Church of Christ in the concrete supporting the rebar pier that will become a column in the church building.

Block moving brigade.

Glen, Kenny, and Doyle lay the first block on the property.
There it is! Several more blocks were laid, and now other congregations from the U.S. will come in and continue where we left off. Fort Gibson will have another adult group continue the work in February 2009.
